Board Meeting

The Board of Education held a public hearing regarding the potential closure of Innovations Early College High School, the closure of the 4th–6th grade Magnet program at Washington Elementary, and a proposed grade reconfiguration at Nibley Park School.

The board may vote on these proposals during its meeting on December 2, 2025.

REPORTS

Update on Career and Technical Center Progress and Fundraising
This report included preliminary plans and potential cost estimates for the new Career and Technical Center (CTC), as well as information on fundraising efforts to support the project. The new CTC will be located at the former Riley Elementary campus and will ignite students’ potential by combining academic knowledge, technical skills, and real-world experience in one place.

District and School Websites Update
The board received an update on our new district and school websites. The report outlined the rollout process, the reasons for the transition, and key lessons learned. The report pointed out that refreshing our websites wasn’t just a tech upgrade, it was about simplifying communication and improving access for students, families, and community members.

DISCUSSIONS

Portrait of a Graduate
This presentation outlined steps and a proposed timeline for possibly creating a “Portrait of a Graduate” for the district. This project would define the skills, attributes, and experiences students should develop during their time in the district and would align with the Strategic Plan for Student Achievement and the work happening in our schools and classrooms.

Board Member Statement of Ethics
The board reviewed the Board Member Statement of Ethics, part of Policy B-1, which is reviewed annually. The board voted to move the statement to the action agenda.

The board discussed how they would like to receive and potentially discuss information about safe school violations. The board voted to move this item to the action agenda.
